Seminar Description
Special Seismic Certification made its first appearance in the 2000 International Building Code, however it was not commonly enforced until California’s OSHPD agency started mandating seismic testing of equipment for hospitals after the adoption of the 2007 California Building Code. Today in Seismic Design Category C structures and above, all life safety systems and hazardous material storage require seismic certification as do most building equipment in Occupancy Category IV structures. Seismic certification is also required in electrical substations, nuclear facilities, and telecom equipment. The views and opinions expressed in this seminar are those of the speaker(s) and do not necessarily reflect those held by S.
