This seminar illustrates and discusses the detailing requirements for intermediate and special moment frames of concrete. It is designed to be helpful in understanding the detailing rules and their proper application. The following topics are included:

1. Seismic detailing of flat plate-column frames

2. Dimensional restrictions on beams and columns and why they are necessary

3. Why column longitudinal reinforcement ratios should be kept as low as possible

4. Importance of transverse reinforcement and consequences of not providing enough

5. Advantages and disadvantages of spirals vs. hoops

6. Special considerations for columns supporting discontinuous shear walls
