The 2012 IBC has been made available a year ahead of the normal release date for a new code edition. The early publication provides structural engineers and code officials more time to study the new provisions. This edition of the IBC includes sweeping structural changes including major changes to the wind and seismic provisions as well as updates to the commonly used structural standards such as ASCE 7-10 for structural loads, ACI 318-11 for concrete design, ACI 530-11 for masonry design, AISC 341-10 and 360-10 for structural steel design, and NDS 2012 for wood design. Significant changes are also found in Chapter 17 Special Inspections and Tests.
