Seminar Description
This session presents key concepts that optimize masonry performance through better detailing and design analysis. General content is provided on the detailing benefits of masonry lintels contrasted with concerns related to other lintel materials. Design approaches are identified and analytical examples are provided.
Speaker Bio
Scott Walkowicz, PE is the owner of Walkowicz Consulting Engineers, Lansing, Michigan and is a former Owner and Structural Department Manager with a multi-discipline firm. He was recently elected to Fellow Member of the Masonry Society and was the 2018 TMS Haller Award winner for enhancing design practice. He currently consults with other engineers as well as architects, contractors and owners on behalf of several regional Coalitions and does specialty structural design and investigative work. Scott is a recognized expert in structural masonry engineering and investigation. He holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Civil/Structural Engineering from Clemson University as well as a B.S. degree in Architecture from Lawrence Technological University.
Scott is a Past President of The Masonry Society (TMS) and a member of the Main Committee, as well as the Design and the Reinforcement and Connectors Subcommittees for the TMS 402/602 Committee (formerly the Masonry Standards Joint Committee (MSJC)) where he participates in revisions to the structural masonry code. He is registered in multiple states and has analyzed and designed buildings across the country and overseas including many with unusual or creative uses of structural masonry.
Registration Information
Please note a single registration allows you to have one connection. However, a number of people can view and listen to the seminar using one connection by using an LCD projector (or a large computer monitor) and good computer speakers or a speaker phone.
All attendees, irrespective of the number of registered connections, can earn 0.20 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) or 2.0 professional development hours (PDHs). CEU/PDH certificates are provided free of charge.
To meet the new reality of social distancing, we are reducing the price for additional connections to our live webinars (see table below). FAQ
- A connection is defined as a single web connection plus a single telephone connection (if necessary).
- A $15 fee will apply if the seminar registrant wishes to revise the web seminar registration (e.g. switch from one web seminar to another).
- Refunds are limited to 80 percent of fee and must be applied for in writing WITHIN THIRTY DAYS after the scheduled seminar.
