Seminar Description
This presentation will explore how engineers can use the alternate design provisions for anchored masonry veneers in TMS 402 to go beyond the limitations of prescriptive design. We will review the behavior of anchored veneers, discuss methods for engineering anchored veneers, and then demonstrate these methods with design examples.Speaker Bio
John M. Hochwalt has been a consulting engineer for over 30 years and is Director of Engineering for the Seattle Structural Group of KPFF. He authored the Design Guide for Anchored Veneer Over Steel Studs for the Western States Clay Products Association and is co-author of the Reinforced Masonry Engineering Handbook. John is also active in the masonry code development process through his work with TMS-402 committee where he is the chair of the Seismic and Limit Design Subcommittee.

All attendees, irrespective of the number of registered connections, can earn 0.2 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) or 2.0 professional development hours (PDHs). CEU/PDH certificates are provided free of charge.
