Please view the following information on the Seismic Design Parameter DVD as provided by Dr. E.V. Leyendecker on September 5, 2006:

An updated DVD is in preparation as a USGS publication. It will be available to IBC and others when review is completed later this year. In the meantime the functionality of the DVD, including parameters for IBC 2006 and ASCE 7 - 2005 (as well as prior editions) is available by clicking the USGS web site.

Follow the instructions on the page that comes up. If you have java installed, click on

Java Ground Motion Parameter Calculator - Version 5.0.6 (2.8 MB)

If you do not have java installed, follow the instructions on the page.

The java application will open the Seismic Parameter calculator with a general introduction. Click on Okay to go to a page with Analysis Options. You may select IBC (or other options from the menu). Selecting the IBC will take you to an analysis page that allows you to select from IBC 2000, 2003, or 2006 IBC. The 2006 edition is the default.

If you have problems, most often caused by the firewall of different organizations, there are several contacts listed on the USGS page giving instructions on installing java. The USGS web site is in the process of converting the java application to html pages to avoid some of the firewall problems. We will let you know when the DVD is available. It is behind schedule but preparation of the help files and USGS review has taken longer than anticipated.
