Overview of 2009 IEBC and IBC Chapter 34 Provisions

Speaker: David Bonowitz, S.E.

PDH earned: 2.0

Monday, July 20th

10:00 am to 12:00 noon Pacific Time

The 2009 IBC has major revisions to Chapter 34. Not only has most of the chapter been rewritten and reorganized, but there are new upgrade triggers associated with certain repairs, as well as new references to the IEBC and other standards. This seminar will cover the major changes, explain the issues behind them, and compare the IBC and IEBC model codes. Examples will illustrate the intent of the code, the remaining gray areas, and some common misapplications. The seminar will also review the changes and additions to seismic criteria now referenced by the IBC.
